Posture is Important!
“Posture is important!”, so says Jane Fonda to Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Julia’s podcast “Wiser Than Me”. (Which I highly recommend.)
Jane Fonda is 85 years old and still going strong. She tells Julia that she is still exercising, although slowly. She says:
“Successful aging, in large part depends on good health. So stay healthy. Posture is important. You can seem very old if you have bad posture, even if you’re not all that old. And keep exercising. You’ve got to stay strong. Just keep moving.”
In another episode, Julia asks Isabel Allende:
“Is there something you would like me to know about aging? That you haven’t told me already?”
“Yes, then you need to have good health and aging to have to have a good old age you have to prepare for it. It doesn’t just happen. The same way that you will have good skin if you take care of your skin otherwise it won’t happen. You have to prepare for everything intellectually. Your domestic life, the way you live the way you think the way you eat, your relationships, all that you have to prepare. Don’t think it will happen just by chance. And other people who are totally mean and horrible think that they will have a good old life. Why would you have a good old age? If you are a bastard, why would you?”
Isabelle sounds like a yogi, don’t you think?
Yoga is about more than just the physical practice, but, the asanas we do in class are designed to improve the structure and functional performance of the body by lubricating the joints to create freedom of movement. The asanas also strengthen the ligaments and muscles, tone the internal organs and strengthen the nerves. Posture and functional performance of the body are subsequently improved.
Improve your posture, your health, performance and aging process by coming to class!
